NBA Preview: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Miami Heat

Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat (20-21) squad are looking to get a bounce-back win tomorrow after falling short over the Brooklyn Nets, 102-101. They will host the Oklahoma City Thunder (18-22) tomorrow, at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Oklahoma City is heading to Miami with the hopes of ending their losing streak on the road, as they have lost five in a row away from home. The Heat have not been unkind to visitors either, posting an 11-9 record at American Airlines Arena this season. However, they seemed to be inconsistent on blowout games with a 5-5 record in games decided by ten or more points.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City is led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and ranks third in the NBA for scoring from inside the paint with 55.4 points per game. This inside penetration of the Thunder will be tested by the Miami Heat who are well known to have great defenders like Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

It’ll be an exciting matchup and could be just what Oklahoma City needs to turn things around on the road.

Reunion of Kentucky Hot Picks

Tuesday night’s matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat may feel like a reunion for Kentucky Basketball fans; both teams boast former Wildcat standouts. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having a career year for the Thunder – he has improved his scoring average in each of the five NBA seasons he has played, currently averages 30.9 points per game, and has an impressive 24 games this season with at least 30 points.

For the Heat, Tyler Herro continues to take strides in his young career; this season, he is averaging 21.2 points per game and 6 rebounds as well as 4.4 assists per game – which are all career highs to this point.

Another Kentucky player who is expected to show up tomorrow was Bam Adebayo who is also a vital piece for the Heat, contributing 21.4 points while grabbing 9.9 boards per night. However, Bam is currently playing with a thigh injury and a right-hand contusion.

“I don’t like to see my guys nicked up or hurt, that being Bam,” Heat forward Jimmy Butler said. “I hope he’s OK. He’s been carrying a lot of the load on both sides of the ball.”

Heat-Thunder Past Meeting

It has been an epic battle at the Paycom Center last December as these teams clash for the first time this season. Tyler Herro made a career-high nine 3-pointers, hit the go-ahead jumper, and scored 35 points off of 10-of-19 shooting in Miami’s 110-108 victory.

An opportunistic try at the buzzer from Shai’s mid-range jumper miss while Josh Giddey’s put back rimmed out, securing Herro’s impressive performance as the deciding factor in the win.
