A bit of an out-of-the-way place, located where Florida State Road 997 marks the end of civilization and the beginning of the Everglades, Miccosukee Resort & Gaming is nevertheless one of Miami’s most popular gaming sites. Miccosukee boasts 2,000 different slot machines to play, as well as a long-standing bingo tradition that dates back 30 years. Of course, being a resort, there’s also a hotel on-site that makes the Miccosukee a self-contained vacation site.

As its name might suggest, the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming is an Indian casino, dedicated inside to the tribe of the same name. As such, many of its events celebrate the heritage of the Miccosukee, with the observance of American Indian Day standing as a good example. Cabaret, dining, airboat rides, and golf add to this Florida casino’s expansive range of entertainment. For non-gamers, there’s also a pool and gym on-site.

Located on the western most point of Miami, Miccosukee Resort and Casino isn’t exactly what you’d call a beach environment. It instead taps into its core identity, which is all in their name. The Miccosukee Tribe were the first inhabitants of the Everglades. The casino helps facilitate adventures into the tribe territory where you can watch alligator demonstrations (linked here)
and go on exciting airboat rides through the Everglades. You might not be able to post up at the beach when visiting, but you’ll get a lot more history knowledge then what we’ve come to expect from Florida casinos.
